Questions people ask before they build a stack
SaaS pricing, seat counting, data sources, and what we are (and aren't). Short answers first — details if you need them.
Does ExpensifyStack sell software?
No. We compare SaaS pricing — you buy from the vendor. We never touch the sale, the license, or your payment. Think of us as the friend who reads twelve pricing pages for you, except it takes a minute instead of an afternoon.
Are you affiliated with Expensify Inc.?
No. Expensify® is a registered trademark of Expensify Inc. (expense management software). ExpensifyStack is independent software pricing comparison — different product, different category, different URL. We use "expensify" as a verb: make your stack transparent. See our Disclaimer.
Where do your prices come from?
Public vendor pricing pages — the same ones you'd open in a tab. We refresh weekly for most tools, more often when a vendor announces changes. Each row shows a "last verified" date. Spot an error? Email pricing@myexpensify.us with a link to the vendor page.
How do you count seats?
You tell us team size. We apply vendor rules: minimum seats, per-seat vs flat, included seats on a plan. Some tools bill active users, some bill provisioned seats — we note the method when it's public. Guest or view-only seats usually aren't counted unless the vendor charges for them.
What about "Contact sales" plans?
We only include prices that are publicly listed. Enterprise tiers without a number get marked "contact sales" or excluded from totals — we don't invent quotes. For teams of 2–50, self-serve plans usually cover the stack anyway.
How does overlap detection work?
Rule-based, not AI. Categories map to functions: wiki, chat, file storage, issue tracking. If two tools in your stack share a function, we flag the overlap and estimate duplicate spend. Not perfect — but good enough to start a conversation about dropping one.
Is this financial advice?
No. We're not accountants, tax advisors, or a bank. ExpensifyStack is informational software pricing comparison. Verify totals with vendors before you purchase or renew. See Disclaimer.
How does ExpensifyStack make money?
Subscriptions — Starter is free, Saver is $9/mo, Power is $19/mo. Vendors don't pay for ranking. We don't earn affiliate kickbacks when you pick a more expensive tool. That keeps the table honest.
Do you track personal finance or expenses?
No. We compare software subscription pricing for small teams. We don't connect to bank accounts, scan receipts, or file taxes. If you're looking for expense management, that's a different category — and a different company.
Can I export my stack for a board meeting?
Yes, on the Power plan — PDF or CSV with cost by tool and category, annual projection included. Informational export only, not an accounting record.
